Chaka Kahn

South Side native Chaka Kahn gets an honorary street on 51st and Blackstone and her own day in honor of her 40th anniversary in the music industry. Thats right, it's been 40 years since you old-schoolers grooved to "Tell Me Something Good" and "Sweet Thing." The City of Chicago has proclaimed July 28  "Chaka Kahn Day" and Chicagoans can bask in the diva's aura while strolling down memory lane during a free concert 6 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph. Funkadesi opens for the Grammy Award-winning singer. The park opens at 3 p.m. http://www.millenniumpark.org
